Default Installaction of OEM backup aid sensors ?

I purchased VW part 1K0 054 630 C, "Original Park-Distance-Control", to install in my 2011 Jetta sedan (the part is also listed to fit the 2011 Touran).

The design has a computer mounted in the trunk, connected to four sensors that must be inserted into the bumper (after being painted to match).

My question is, how to install the sensors ?

The instructions are illustrated, and there are no measurements provided, no template.

I wonder, is the inside of the bumper pre-marked for the four drill points ? If not, I wonder how to do this, not knowing the detailed sensor field-of-view to properly space them for optimum performance. The senors do have a notch to better ensure they point 'up' -- again, this is dependent on the installer making the notch in the proper location.

TIA

Welcome to the forum.

Well you can either guess the distances apart or measure them of a Jetta fitted with them.

The part number for the mk6 Golf is difference with or without the sensors so the holes are shaped and reinforced.

I assume you have VAG-COM/VCDS to code them?

Thank you for the welcome and suggestions.

I didn't think they'd be connected to any ECU and so wouldn't need to be coded. That said, yes, I do have the VAG-COM/VCDS that I purchased to get rid of the annoying horn beep when locking the car. The loud clicks on all four doors and light flash is plenty confirmation for me. :-)

FYI, there's a writeup contest Writeup award gift certificate through sponsor KermaTDI so if you want to share the DIY and document it, please do!

You are right there is no coding shown in Upgrading of Volkswagen Park Distance Control (PDC) to Optical Parking System (OPS). That is one thing I should have ordered with mine after driving it for a while.

I was looking to do the same thing with my 2012 SportWagen so I was curious about if or not you found the bumper to have marks for sensor placement or not; have you gotten to the install yet?

No, I haven't yet gotten to it -- and will probably wait until next spring at this rate, with an extended out-of-town trip coming up.

I'll be looking for specific help, as in steps, to remove and replace the bumper.
