Default Halogen city light removal?

Besides trying to find a kid with small hands to pull these sockets out, any tricks on getting these out? Do you simply pull out, or is it a twist then pull?

Talking

Well, trying to get these things out with just my fingers was next to impossible. I made a quick trip to Harbor Freight for some cheapy small 45* needle nose pliers (it came in a set of 6 pliers for $5) This tool was the key in getting these suckers out. No cut up fingers experienced.

Tools used...

Once you peel off the circular round rubber cover, you can access the city light bulb. It's the one with the long plastic tab. Use the pliers to grab onto the tab and simply pull. Be sure not to pull/grab on the wires during the process. I used the mirror to verify that I only grabbed the plastic tab. No twisting is required to get these out.

Here's how it looks when pulled out. I think the white stuff on it is overspray from when the front bumper was painted at the body shop to fix a rock ding.

Here's the new Hoen bulb installed! I used the pliers to push them back into the housing. On the driver's side, I used one hand to hold the pliers and the other to push the pliers towards the front. You'll know they're in when you hear a click.

I'll post a pic of them lit up this evening.

Thanks! I need to look into LED replacements though. I wasn't too impressed with the Hoen bulbs.

p.s.
Sitting at the dealership right now to check into the recirc fault code we found that day.

Default Lit up pic yet?

Hi,

Just checking to see if you have been able to get a pic of them lit up yet. I was thinking of chaging mine to LEDs, but Im worried about throwing the "bulb out" light which happened when I added LEDs to my front side markers, I don't have VagCom yet.

Cheers!

Here ya go. Like I mentioned earlier, I was not impressed on light color. I wanted something to match the fog light color. They pretty much look like dimmer stock bulbs. I should have taken a before shot for comparison.

LEDs here I come

Good photos/write up... thanks. Hope this won't be a frequent change out.
