You also need to be careful of the vents, each vent has 4 clips in the back of it to secure it to the panel.

Process didnt take that long. I had sort of started this while back but chickened out when i lost of one the clips to the right of the trim piece, but today i was brave enough to take the whole thing apart.

Great pictures!

The Passat looks like the same shape except the buttons are integrated in the cluster adding some extra to the sides.

Chitty suggested the GLI cluster would fit. I'm not sure if the VIN's are in the dealer systems, if so, we could get a part number on them and start there. I also haven't checked when the GLI demos will hit the dealers in Canada or the US.

GLI would not fit bc its Gas and not TDI, so thats out of question for us. I think the Passat should fit, if you look at my picture, there are two buttons on the buttom of the cluster, those are the buttons for the reset and adjust for Jetta cluster. The trim has the actual buttons on it, the cluster just has the rod that pushes the button(hard to explain but you will see what i'm talking about when you take yours out) so having said that it should allow us to install it. I'm trying to find the part number for the passat cluster, but i guess that will not be possible until the car goes into productions.

I see what you mean about the cluster side, but i'm hoping to use the cover on the jetta and the cluster from the pasat. Might have to take the plexy glass out of the jetta and swap with the passat in order to fit. I didnt want to take the plexy glass cover out today, but i'm sure its easy to do. Also our other option might be the Jetta TDI in europe.

http://www.volkswagen.de/de/models/d...st_mediaitem_4

wonder if this page is going to show. Its the German TDI, speedo goes to 280kms, and its got full display i guess we can always go the euro tdi route!

If it doesnt show just go thru the vw.de site and look under the jetta and look for interior picture.

That looks promising! If you look at the other pictures, its KESSY too. I found a site that installs the clusters, not sure that they sell them. It was Gareth at Hazzy Dayz: http://www.vwcruise.com/152.html

I also attached that picture out so its easier to see (and in case it changes)

Its not hard, but a bit tricky. Make sure you do take out the vents with the trim work that way all the vent parts stay within and dont fall out!

I used the torqs to get the two cluster screws out, that was the only tool needed for this task. Also used a butter knife to pry the trim out. From the pictures you will see where you need to apply the pressure to get the cluster out. Also on the far right corner where the passenger side vent is, there were two clips, but they fell out! i didnt care about those bc they trim vent back snug still.

BTW i do have the Canadian highline as well, but i guess mine has the NAV and yours doesnt, but i think most of the stuff should be the same considering dealers would be able to add NAV on site.

As for KESSY i was the one who first said you need to have KESSY cluster, but i was told that might not be required, i guess we just have to wait and see. I really wonder if the Passat cluster would fit, that would be our only hope, unless the Euro Jetta TDI has the full MFD as well.

Here are the pictures. Let me know if you have any questions.

Great, any more tips like tools? I will sum this up into a FAQ article.

I just used the butter knife and T-15 Torx, it was a bit loose so maybe the proper one is T-20. Just pry and pray it wont break on you

Can someone confirm if we can use the GLI cluster to replace the TDI cluster? I am so frustrated, I can't change any of the options for my bluetooth module. I would like to do dial by name using first name then last name. Right now the car is programmed to do last name and then first name. It is confirmed that if you have the full multi-function display you would be able to make this change.

You might but it would require surgery because the RPM band is different. I don't think anyone has done this yet.
