Default 2012 JSW - HPFP Failure Day 1?!

Greetings to everyone, I'm a somewhat proud new owner of a 2012 JSW. I took delivery yesterday on my new Black/Black JSW TDI with NAV/PANO. Absolutely gorgeous vehicle and have by waiting patiently to finally drive my very own since I ordered it through the dealer over a month ago.

I put about 30 miles on the vehicle of around town driving showing it off before I decided take it out to the highway to see what she could do.

After cruising at about 55 I decided to pass a truck in front of me. I punched the accelerator (foot on the floor). This is when I heard a loud "chunk" sound, the JSW immediately lost power, the glow plug indicator started to flash and the check engine light came on solid.

The car is still drivable but in what might be described as "limp-mode". No power what so ever. I can get it up to about 20 MPH very slowly. I am taking it in to the dealer this morning.

I am very disappointed that I will not be able to show off my new car to a few friends coming over today to watch the Badger football game with me this morning.

Thoughts on what happened?

Welcome to the forum.

Its not a good advert for a new car with only 30 miles on it?

I wouldn't have thought it was a HPFP failure if the dealer is any good they should sort it?

I wouldn't jump to any conclusions yet since you don't have the error codes but it is certainly disappointing. Wait to see how fast it's repaired and what's broken before jumping to reactions....yet

I'm pretty sure it's not a HPFP failure. Wouldn't be drivable if it was. Still sucks though.

Sounds like a turbo problem -- or IC hose popped-off.

Hi Everyone, I am the OP. After 5 days at the VW Service depot they have not identified the cause of the issue. They have been able to duplicate the issue that I had originally had and have brought in outside VW technicians to analyze the vehicle. Today's update from them was that they had no new information for me.

I had my 2012 less than 24-hours. It has now been 5 days in service. Still love the car and can't wait to have it back.

Sounds like they should just give you another vehicle.

What was that problem? Did it get fixed?
