Default 2010 Golf TDI ARRIVES

I thought I would have to wait 6 months for my Golf TDI. I only put my name on the dealer list last week. I was told I was first on the list for a dealership that had more than one location. I could accept or reject the first one. Last Friday I was told one would arrive this week. A2 door arrived and I wanted the 4 door. I also wanted the HID lights. When I was told it could be 6 months before the dealership got the next one I agreed to buy it and do not regret it. (2dr, DSG,bluetooth , sunroof , black)

A lot of people probably backed out after putting deposits at multiple deposits.

Default photos of 2010 TDI

Grizzly, I just made an album with 3 photos of the TDI. Just look for my album. The purpose of my post was just to let people know that the Golf TDIs are arriving, but it doesn't look like the dealers will have many for a while. Five other dealerships had no idea when they would get theirs.

That's a beautiful color. I like the foglight trim.

Default car arrived!

ok, so a dealer near me promised me exactly what i want for only $500 over dealer invoice and it's going to be in next week, BUT it doesn't have the xenon headlights i wanted. should i take a chance and wait until i find a shark blue 4 door DSG with xenon, sunroof and winter package? i'm on a list but god knows how long that will take, plus if i jump now i guess i'm entitled to the sales credit tax reimbursement that ends dec 31. what do you guys think? how hard pressed will i be to find the exact car i want before end of year?

IMHO, no xenons would be a dealbreaker for me.

The sales tax thing that ends dec 31 is a deduction not a credit. In other words, you don't get the full amount back. You do pay it upfront and when you're doing your taxes you deduct the amount of state sales tax you paid from income.

This is not tax advice, this is just my non-accountant understanding of how it works.

As an example, assuming $45,000 income, 25% fed tax bracket, and 7% state sales tax, your fed income tax would be $7,437. If you paid 1,820 of sales tax on the car you would deduct that from 45,000 of income and pay 6,982 of income tax. Tax savings: 455.

wow chitty, that DOES help. the tax break might not be as crucial as i expected. how do you know my salary and state sales tax? lol. you pretty much have it spot on.

Default DSG credit

So regardless of whether I purchase the DSG Golf in 2009 or 2010 I will still be eligible for the Lean Burn $1700 credit, correct? It isn't contingent on the year of purchase, but the year of make, right?
