Picked up my 2011 Audi A3 last week and retired my old 98. I love this car so far!! It has 53000 miles on it now, not real sure on the maintenance history so I ordered a filter pack and DSG service kit from ID parts and I am going to tackle it this weekend! I have read the write-ups and have been doing as much as possible as far a research goes so hopefully I wont have any issues. :panic:

I just purchased a 2013 Passat TDI SE. After being in my driveway 1 day, it had leaked oil (6 spots) and when I looked underneath the car, it was obvious oil had been leaking and sprayed over much of the undercarriage. The dealer immediately picked it up and this is what I was told was the problem:
OIL LEAK DIAG. INSPECT.
CHECKED FOR OIL LEAK R/R TOP AND BOTTOM ENGINE COVERS
FOUND OIL AT TOP OF ENGINE AND PUDDLE OF OIL ON LOWER
INGINE COVER CLEANED OFF OIL TOP AND BOTTOM.ADDED OIL
DYE WENT ON TEST DRIVE CAME BACK RERACK FOUND OIL LEAK
COMING FROM TURBO FEED LINE.
HAD TO REMOVE TURBO DIAFRAM TO CHECK OIL FEED LINE FOR
TURBO,LOOSEN UP TURBO ROD ASSEMBLY FOUND FEED LINE NOT
TIGHT RETORQE TURBO LINE CHECKED ALL OTHER LINES AND
RETORQED.CLEANED OFF ALL OIL UPPER AND LOWER ENGINE AREA.
CLEANED OFF UPPER AND LOWER ENGINE COVERS TOOK ON TEST DRIVE
TOWN AND FREEWAY RE RACK RECHECKED ALL DRY NO SIGNS OF LEAKS
REINSTALLED BOTH COVERS.
HAD TO BURN OFF OIL ON ENGINE TOPPED OFF OIL LEVEL.

The dealer says just come pick it up and it's good as new. How concerned should I be? Are there any short- or long-lasting concerns? My new Passat doesn't feel so new anymore. I am not sure where to go from here. :dunno Any suggestions? I called VW of America and I am supposed to hear from a regional case manager.

Just acquired my '99 B5 Passat Sport Estate. 81Kw AFN TDi with 231,000 miles

It has/had a few faults...
No power was solved with a new MAF sensor, now I have to make the brakes work! There is water under the battery so I need to pull it out and do the bung thing. Alternator belt tensioner is howling. There are doubtless other jobs needing done but it's driving!

Cheers Peeps

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forum and an owner a 1999.5 Golf Tdi ALH. I've been searching the forum for solutions to my problem which is "reoccurring limp mode". My engine trips limp mode whenever I'm driving up any type of incline. When I try to manually increase the throttle foot pedal for more torque and speed it causes over-boost and initiates limp mode. If I'm driving under the same circumstances using only cruise control for throttle limp mode does not occur and the turbo does not over-boost. I believe I have found a possible solution within the forum. By process of elimination I am now in the process of replacing the VNT turbo actuator and I need to know if a preset adjustment is required on the VNT actuator arm assembly when attaching the arm to the turbo or can I just set it to the same length as the old one without any preset load on the actuator adjustment assembly?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Just joined, have been a VW guy since 1965 first was a bug, the year ????, must of had 10 or so, in 1981 got a new diesel rabbit, then went to gas cars, In about 2000 found some 4 - 1981 diesel pickups, and some rabbits, drive the 81 some, Wife & I had a 2002 Jetta TDI 250,000, now have a 2006 TDI Jetta, 150,000 and just got a 2005 TDI Jetta, 120,000, found it with the head off and parts everywhere. The guy said it was smoking, needed a piston. Finished the tear down and found oil everywhere, looks like the turbo went south, head gasket was leaking oil on back side too. Its been quite a job to clean this thing up, can't believe such a little turbo could pump all this oil, its off and a new one is on way and a new timing belt kit and water pump, never been changed, 120,000 wow, new rings, and all the other stuff. Will have it done in a week or so. Have never changed a timing belt on a PD, this site has some good info on the job, Thanks to you guys for all the posts, lots of the stuff the books don't cover or is hard to understand.
