Fluid changes/maintenance intervals

Maintenance intervals: above all else, refer to your owner's manual for more detailed specifications, warnings, and notices

Light bulbs: refer to light bulb replacement reference table

Available colors and touch up paint: refer to OEM paint codes

Engine oil:

• Conventional oil meeting VW 505.01, 506.01, or 507.00 ONLY, 10,000 miles or 6 months, whichever is sooner.
• Capacity w/filter change: 4.3L for the a5 Jetta w/filter change

Antifreeze/coolant: 

• Lifetime fill (100,000 mile) for g12/g12+ VW OEM fluid or Pentosin coolant, pink or red in color.
• WARNING: DO NOT MIX OEM or Pentosin with ANY other color coolant or it will turn brown and sludge. If this occurs, you must flush the entire coolant system.
• Green coolant will work but must not be mixed with pink coolant or it will turn brown and engine damage will result.
• Mix with distilled water only, tap water will leave mineral deposits
• Coolant capacity: 8.0 Liters

Brake fluid:

• replace every 2 years, regardless of mileage
• DOT 4 fluid only, not compatible with DOT 3 fluid
• 1quart for brakes

Clutch fluid

• replace every 2 years, regardless of mileage
• DOT 4 fluid only, not compatible with DOT 3 fluid
• 1/2 quart for clutch and brakes

DSG transmission fluid (Only Auto transmission on A5 Jetta TDI)

• Change DSG fluid every 40,000 mi
• Capacity: intial fill = 7.2 Liters, fluid change = 5.2 liters
• Fluid VW#G 052 182 A2

Manual transmission fluid-----

• Lifetime fluid (50-100,000 mile) replacement
• Use API G50 75W-90 (OEM VW) synthetic gear oil or GL4 Mil-L2105.  VW#G 052 171 A2
• Redline is ok
• Fluid capacity for a5 : 1.8 Liters

Fuel filter

• Drain every 10,000 miles (if your filter has a drain), replace every 20,000 miles or as necessary

• 40,000 miles replacement

Cabin air filter

Brakes/rotors/rear wheel bearings: change tire pressure sensors every 6 years, confirmed

• Rotate wheels every 10,000 miles
